AMES (KWWL) - Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard has made it Twitter official, welcoming Steve Prohm to Iowa State as the successor to Fred Hoiberg.

Prohm, who has been the Murray State men's head basketball coach since 2011, took the Racers to an undefeated conference record last season and a 29-6 overall record.

The 2014-15 season included a 25-game winning streak that started with a 68-59 win against Drake on Nov. 30 and ended with an 88-87 loss to Belmont on March 7.

Murray State ended the 2015 season with a 72-69 loss to Old Dominion in the NIT Quarterfinal.

Prohm, a native of Vienna, Virginia, graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in education.

Hoiberg announced last week he was leaving Iowa State to take over for Tom Thibodeau as the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

In his Tweet, Pollard said, "Excited to welcome and his family to Official press release at 12:30 p.m. Go Cyclones!"
