IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The annual Iowa Arts Festival kicked off this weekend bring 115 local and national artists to show off their skills.

The festival held in Downtown Iowa City allows visual artists to show and sell their artwork.

The festival brings live music , a “Culinary Row” and many other family-friendly activities.

Greg McDonald has been carving for about 30 years and says when he comes to the arts festival, the public support keeps he going.

"These days a lot of people, most people probably don't realize until they see you making it is when they say 'oh yeah, you really make this stuff,' said McDonald. "I get a lot of interest and a lot of questions."

Every year the festival draws thousands.

The festival goes through Sunday.
