WATERLOO (KWWL) - One Waterloo man has what could be the world's tallest rose -- and with the rose being the most romantic flower, there's a great love story to match it.

Bill Morse loves to garden -- his specialty is flowers.

"I like doing flowers and stuff outside," Morse says. "I just play with them, and everyone says I have a green thumb."

But it's one flower in particular that has everyone talking -- one very tall, maybe record-breaking rose.

The current world record for the longest stemmed rose stands at 6 feet, 10 inches. But Morse's rose comes in a foot taller than that.

"I was just mowing the lawn and I looked up and saw it," Morse says. "I showed people as a joke, but then it just started to snowball from there."

Gardening was something Morse enjoyed doing with his wife, Cheryl.

"That's where I picked it up from -- she showed me how to do all that stuff," Morse said.

Cheryl died three years ago from cancer. Bill looks at his garden as a beautiful way to remember her.

"It keeps her alive in a way," he said.

And with the world's longest stemmed rose possibly growing under his watch, his garden proves to be quite the tribute to her.

"It's still growing, so anything is possible," Morse said.
