WATERLOO (KWWL) -

"I kind of panicked, I just ran, I didn't think about the screaming part, like to scream," said Skylar Brunson.

The 14-year-old girl says a man tried to kidnap her at Exchange Park in Waterloo, and police are still on the lookout.

Now Brunson won't go anywhere in the park without her older brother Jackson.

"The guy pulled up and asked me to come closer, and I got really scared and held my phone to my chest," said Brunson.

She says he then asked if her name was Brie, then demanded her to get in the car.

Police say because of this exchange, they're pursuing the case very seriously.

"That could be a tactic to bring her defenses down," said Waterloo investigator Spencer Gann. "It was also reported that was followed up with 'get in the car.' No one that would be looking for a Brie would follow up with that."

Brunson's brother Jackson is seeing red.

"This is the first time I've heard of something like this, and it's my sister. Out of everyone... it's my sister," he said.

Although Skylar is playing in the park again, she can't shake what happened to her.

"When I'm with my friends I feel kind of safe because there is like six of us, but when I'm alone I feel like someone is going to get me," she said.

And police say that someone can be anyone.

"The stranger word has the connotation that it's a scurvy bearded guy, but it's important for kids to know the person out to kidnap them can look like anyone," said Gann.

Brunson describes the alleged kidnapper as a black man in his 20's with a long goatee, driving a black four-door SUV.
