Iowa is making it easier to get a child labor permit

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Iowa is making it easier to get a child labor permit.

Effective June 1st, the state is eliminating several steps to make the process less cumbersome.

The child may get the application/work permit by going to the Iowa Division of Labor web page. Once the child, parent/guardian and employer complete the form it is sent by the employer to the Iowa Division of Labor.

These changes in procedures are a result of a bill signed into law by Governor Branstad on May 7th.

Iowa Workforce Development offices and schools will no longer issue work permits.

Access to the instructions and new application/work permit can be found at: http://www.iowaworkforce.org/labor/childlabor.htm.
