WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A passing motorist attempted to get a teenage girl into his vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the corner of Dawson Street and Burton Avenue around 4:05 p.m.

The 14-year-old girl was walking home from Exchange Park when a man driving a sport utility vehicle pulled up to her and asked about her name. When she replied that she wasn't the person he was inquiring about, the driver told her to get in her vehicle, said Capt. David Mohlis with the Waterloo Police Department.

The girl ran off and reported the incident, Mohlis said.

No arrests have been made.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with a longer goatee, and he was driving a smaller black 4-door SUV.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Waterloo Police Department at 291-4340, ext 7, or Crime Stoppers at (855) 300-8477.
