WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Black Hawk County Attorney Tom Ferguson is resigning to take a position in the Iowa Attorney General's office.

Ferguson will be Iowa's next Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator and will also serve as the Executive Director of the Iowa County Attorneys Association.

The Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator provides support, continuing education and training for Iowa's prosecuting attorneys, their assistants and their victim/witness coordinators.

Ferguson is currently serving his seventh consecutive term as Black Hawk County Attorney.  He will start his four-year term on July 1 and resign as Black Hawk County Attorney on June 30.
