Two elected to Jesup City Council in special election

The Jesup City Council has two new members following a special election on Tuesday.

Voters took to the polls to replace two members that stepped down from the council in April.

Richard Mott and John A. Crawford were the two leading vote getters with 187 and 160 votes respectively.

The remaining candidates were Dawn Vogel, Carol J. Wilson and Jason Thompson. They received 142, 75 and 17 votes respectively.

The Buchanan County auditor's Office is scheduled to certify the election on Monday.
