Linn County's Click It or Ticket enforcement leads to 93 speed citations

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Linn County Sheriff's Office joined other law enforcement agencies across the country in the Click it or Ticket campaign.

During the two-week traffic enforcement project Linn County deputies, arrested 27 people, issued 183 citations, and 266 warning.

The campaign was May 19 through May 31 all in an effort to promote the use of seat belts.

The effort put additional deputies on the streets both day and night to watch for unbelted motorists and traffic violators, as well as drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During the two-week traffic enforcement project, Linn County Sheriff's Deputies spent over 28 additional GTSB grant-funded hours patrolling Linn County's roadways in hopes of not only "cracking down" on violators, but also in making travel safer for others.

93 - Speeding Citations

31 - Misc. Traffic Violation Citations

27 - No Proof of Insurance Warnings

22 - No Proof of Insurance Citations

15 - Registration Violation Citations

12 - Registration Violation Warnings

12 - Arrest Warrants Served

7 - Driver's License Violation Citations

5 - Suspended /Revoked Driver's License Arrests

5 - Seat Belt/Child Restraint Citations

4 - OWI Arrests
