Egg prices continue to rise and show no sign of retreating due to the avian flu.

The egg shortage even has one fast food restaurant cutting its breakfast hours.

Egg prices continue to go up in the face of a lower nationwide egg supply which has been hit by a widespread outbreak of avian flu.

According to the USDA, to date, more than 40 million birds have been affected.

Faced with the egg shortage, fast food restaurant Whataburger is trimming the hours it serves breakfast -- from a typical 12 hours down to four hours during the weekend and six hours on weekends.

The restaurant operates more than 770 locations in 10 states.

The current price of a dozen large eggs is 58 percent higher than a month ago.
