CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - Family and friends of Norman Gant filled the streets with balloons, a bounce house, and a BBQ on Monday.

The block party was to remember the 21-year-old who was shot and killed in Cedar Falls one year ago.

"I still look out the window thinking he'll pull up, but I know he's not," said Laniya Keys, Gant's older sister. "I mean, it's just the thought in my head -- like I've caught myself calling his cell phone."

This time last year, Gant was shot and killed while leaving a party on Tremont Street in Cedar Falls. The person who pulled the trigger hasn't been arrested.

Keys says she can't believe it's already been a year.

They wanted to throw the party for the kids and to keep Gant's memory alive.

Keys says she still has faith the killer will be found.

"Just come forward," she pleaded. "Either you come forward or you get caught the hard way, and either way you're still going to have to do your time."

She says police continue to update her parents on the investigation, but she says her family needs closure for the healing to begin.

Cedar Falls Police continue to investigate this case. They say they get roughly two tips a month, but there isn't a significant update.

There is a $1,000 Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers reward for anyone with information.
