IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An Iowa City woman faces theft charges; police say she found a library card and used it several times to check out books that were never returned.

Iowa City Police took Andrea Morgan, 23, into custody on Sunday night. According to criminal complaints, Morgan found a library card that was misplaced by its original owner in January; she allegedly used it three times over the course of about a week to check out seven books, which she never returned.

After the original owner started getting notices her books were overdue, investigators looked at security footage and identified Morgan as the person who was checking out the books.

The total value of the books taken was $97.

She's charged with 5th degree theft, trespassing and unauthorized use of a credit card. She remains in custody at the Johnson County Jail, as of Monday morning.
