Monday morning, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds announced the official start of the seventh annual Yankee Doodle Drive Against Hunger - A Symphony of Caring.

The announcement was made alongside representatives of the Des Moines symphony, the Food Bank of Iowa, Bank of the West, Casey's General Stores, Hy-Vee, Inc., and several others Monday morning.

“I am honored to once again have the opportunity to work alongside community businesses to shed light on the importance of providing food to those in need in Central Iowa.” Lt. Gov. Reynolds said.

The public is encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at Des Moines metro-area Bank of the West, Hy-Vee store locations or the Des Moines Symphony's 22nd annual Yankee Doodle Pops, July 2.

All donations will benefit the Food Bank of Iowa. The drive runs until July 5.
