IOWA CITY (AP) -

Sidewalk construction in Iowa City will force Pedestrian traffic to be rerouted.

Beginning Monday, June 1, the city's maintenance workers will be replacing the sidewalk curb ramps at the intersection of Wayne Street and Dover Street and the intersection of Creighton Street and Westminster Street.

Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained for through traffic, although rerouting of pedestrian traffic will be necessary during the project.

The city is asking drivers to allow extra time as delays may be possible and always caution should be exercised when traveling through construction areas.

It is anticipated that all work will be completed by Friday, June 19.

Due to the maintenance work, Towncrest outbound stop #7262 at the corner of Wayne Street and Dover Street will be temporarily taken out of service. Customers who normally use this stop will need to board the bus at stop #7261 located at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Arthur Street while the project is ongoing.
