Study: Positive messages help lead to better food choices

A new study suggests that people make better food choices when they're told about the benefits of healthy food versus the negative sides of unhealthy food.

Researchers were looking into the messages people receive about food and how they respond to those messages. Through their study, they found scientists and dietitians responded better to negative messages; however, the average person was likely to respond more positively by knowing the benefits of healthy foods.

Experts say parents can use this information when talking to their kids, by encouraging them to eat vegetables rather than warning them about eating dessert.
