DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Two Dubuque schools were briefly locked down Wednesday afternoon as a precaution after two elementary school students reported "possibly" seeing someone with a gun near the school.

Carver Elementary School and Roosevelt Middle School students were moved inside after two Carver students reported they may have seen an individual with a gun near school property, according to Michael Cyze, spokesman for the Dubuque Community School District.

The schools were moved into an "exterior lockdown," but the report was never confirmed, according to Cyze.

Dubuque Police were called and remained in the vicinity of both schools through dismissal. Families were also notified, according to the district.

Both schools have now resumed normal schedules and dismissals, according to Cyze.
