A 7th grader from Dubuque is one of nearly 300 spellers going for the Scripps National Spelling Bee title. Bryan Keck, 13, is speller number 86; he's sponsored by our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald.

In his free time, he likes to go bowling, play video games and check out the latest episode of Dateline NBC; he also spends time reading crime novels, and hopes to become a federal prosecutor in his future.

Keck is one of 139 boys and 146 girls spelling; the Scripps National Spelling Bee that gets stated on May 27.

Keck attends Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School.
