MUSCATINE (KWWL) - Four people escaped serious injury after the boat they were in went over a spillway near Muscatine.

It happened at Lock and Dam 16 late Saturday night around 11 p.m.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said the boat went over the spillway at a high rate of speed landing in about two feet of water.

Kevin Mundt, who was operating the boat, and Jenna Bundy were sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The other passengers in the boat, Daniel and Amanda Dick, were ejected from the boat but not hurt.

No one on the boat was wearing life jackets at the time of the incident but did put them on before swimming and wading to shore.

The Iowa DNR is investigating the incident.
