Drunk driver loses control of car, hits Waterloo home

WATERLOO (KWWL) - A man who was drunk driving lost control of his car early Sunday morning, and struck a Waterloo home.

Waterloo Police say officers were dispatched to 1417 W 2nd St. around 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, Andrew Gabnay, 19, was driving westbound on W 2nd St. when he hit a parked car, traveled through oncoming traffic, went up the curb and through a fence at 400 Sullivan Ave.

Gabnay's vehicle then struck the home at 1417 W 2nd St.

Police say Gabnay was taken to Allen Hospital where officers discovered he had a BAC of .235.

Police estimate the property damage for the fence at 400 Sullivan Ave to be about $300, with damage to the home at 1417 W 2nd St. to be roughly $50,000.

Police are still investigating.
