Residents rescued from flooded homes in Texas, Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:
WIMBERLEY, Texas (AP) -- Flooding overnight in Texas and Oklahoma has led to numerous evacuations and rescues including some of residents stranded on rooftops and in attics.

Rain in Hays County in Central Texas caused the Blanco River to rise at a record level Saturday and forced authorities there to evacuate residents.

Sheriff's Lt. Jeri Skrocki says numerous rescues have been conducted in the small community of Wimberley, about 40 miles southwest of Austin. She says no serious injuries have been reported and that emergency shelters have been set up for residents at schools, a church, a nursing home and a community center.

In Oklahoma, authorities in Cleveland and Comanche counties say they have conducted water rescues, too. They say some were residents trapped in their attics and on their roofs.
