Police call it an act of road rage that went too far.

"As a result, one subject was stabbed in the torso," said Lt. Greg Fangman with Waterloo Police.

It happened around three Thursday afternoon, where W. 1st St. passes under Highway 218. Authorities say 20-year-old Mitchell Mincks was riding his motorcycle several blocks away, and got into an altercation with several other people in car. Under the overpass, Mincks is accused of getting off his bike, and reaching through the cars window to assault someone. Then the people in the car fought back.

Mincks was stabbed in the torso, and drove himself to Covenant Medical Center.

Police were called, and the investigation is ongoing.

"The only charge at this time is a juvenile was taken into custody for carrying weapons," said Fangman\

A bloody knife was recovered from the scene. Police have yet to determine if it was Minck's blood. KWWL is not naming that minor.

"We talked to some of the people that were in the car, but we have witnesses scheduled to come in yet today to what they have to add," Fangman said, noting investigators have not yet spoken to Mincks, who was still in the Covenant ICU Friday.

Mincks is expected to survive. More charges could be filed, pending the outcome of the investigation.
