DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) -

A crash involving a truck in Dubuque County required clean-up Monday morning.

It happened just before noon at Thunder Road near Ridge Road.

The Dubuque County Sheriff says 24-year-old Christopher Powers of Holy Cross was traveling west on Thunder Road in a 1996 International truck owned by Three Rivers FS.  The vehicle was hauling urea - a granulated form of nitrogen fertilizer.

Powers lost control and rolled once before coming to rest in the ditch.  Approximately four tons of urea spilled onto the roadway.  Total loss between damage to the vehicle and urea is estimated at $40,000.

The road had to be closed while crews from Three Rivers FS cleaned up the spill.  Powers was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He is cited for failure to maintain control.
