DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Two homes in Dubuque have been evacuated due to a gas line break.

Lieutenant Scott Baxter of the Dubuque Police Department says the gas line break in the 2700 block of Ventura Drive was reported at around 11:42 a.m.

Baxter says they're not sure yet what caused the break in the gas line, but says it will take a couple of hours for crews to reach the part of the line where the problem is.

The two homes that were evacuated are the closest to where the leak is.
