OELWEIN (KWWL) -

An Oelwein mom faces a child endangerment charge for letting a registered sex offender pick up her kids from school and daycare.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Brooke Renee Cromwell was arrested on Friday after a week-long investigation.

Deputies say Cromwell allowed 28-year-old Dillon John Sommerfelt, a registered sex offender, to go to the school and daycare provider and pick up her children. Deputies say this violated the registry restriction and endangered Cromwell's children. Sommerfelt was arrested on Friday and charge with violating the sex offender registry.

Both were released on bond Saturday.

Cromwell's children were taken into custody by the Department of Human Services for placement.
