LA CROSSE, Wis. (KWWL) -

Coe College dropped a pair of games to Wisconsin-La Crosse in an NCAA regional final, ending the season for the Kohawks.

In game one, Coe nearly pulled it off rallying from a 2-run deficit in the 8th inning. Trailing 4-2 in the frame, Jack Hoffman flew out to right field, deep enough for Michael Goerdt to score from third to pull the Kohawks within one. Later in the frame, Jory Heckenberg reached base on a throwing error, which allowed AJ Reuter to score the tying run.

La Crosse, however, would pick up the eventual winning tally in the top of the 9th. Ben Morgan knocked a base hit up the middle scoring a run as the Eagles picked up a 5-4 victory forcing a second championship game.

In game 2, Coe took a 4-2 lead in the 4th on a 2-run home run off the bat of Heckenberg. La Crosse, however, tied up the game in the 5th, and broke it open with a 7 run frame in the 6th as the Eagles went on to a decisive 15-4 victory to advance to the Division III College World Series.

Coe finished the season with a 34-34 overall record.
