PISCATAWAY, N.J. (KWWL) -

The Iowa baseball team dropped a series for the first time this year. The Hawkeyes wrapped up their regular season with a 3-2 loss at Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights took 2 out of the 3 games in the weekend. Iowa went 7-1 in Big Ten series this season.

Rutgers scored once in the second inning and twice in the third. That would hold up the rest of the game.

Junior Calvin Matthews took the loss for Iowa, allowing three runs and five hits over four innings pitched.

Offensively Daniel Aaron Moriel led the way for Iowa, driving in one run while going 3 for 4 in the game.

Iowa had already clinched the number two seed for next week's Big Ten tournament. Iowa will open up against 7th seeded Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis.
