SIOUX CITY (KWWL) - A mom from Iowa is stuck in China as she fights to bring her newborn baby back to the United States.

Wendy Morrow went into labor prematurely while visiting Hong Kong for her brother's wedding.

Now, she says she and her baby can't leave because of unpaid hospital bills.

"The hospital will not release his birth certificate until the hospital bill is paid in full," Morrow told KCAU in Sioux City. "We need the birth certificate to get the passport to get him home."

Baby Kyuss still in special care, so the hospital bills are adding up quickly, reaching a whopping $20,000.

Travelers insurance will cover $10,000, but the family is struggling with accessing federal funding.

The family is setting up fundraisers to help bring both mother and baby home.
