UPDATE: Calmar bank robbery suspect apprehended

CALMAR (KWWL) -

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says Tyrone Wilson has been apprehended in Rock Island, Illinois.

Police in Illinois took him into custody without incident at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Wilson is now in the custody of law enforcement officials.

According to court records, Wilson previously was convicted and served time in a 1998 robbery of the Wonder Hostess Thrift Store in Waterloo.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are asking for helping finding a man they say robbed a bank in Calmar Tuesday morning.

Authorities say 48-year-old Tyrone Wilson of Postville robbed the State Bank around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday

Wilson was last seen in Calmar driving a black 1998 Chevy 3500 #CWM 696.

Deputies are still searching for a suspect after they say a Winneshiek County bank was robbed Tuesday.

The robbery happened at the State Bank at 102 Main Street in Calmar around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the suspect was a black male, balding with a gray stubble beard, who is 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a black Atlanta Falcons sweatshirt and khaki pants, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect could be driving a gold Dodge pickup and be riding with another black male, according to the post.

Winneshiek County officials say the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank and fled on foot.

No one was injured in the robbery and the sheriff's office said the public was "not in any immediate danger."

The investigation is ongoing.
