IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa City Downtown District (ICDD) is launching a pilot valet parking program, that they hope will make it easier for downtown customers to get to their favorite business. The test-program will run from May 15-June 20.

If you want to take advantage of the valet parking option, it'll cost you $10 per car (during the pilot program), you'll drop off/pick up your car at the U.S. Bank drive through lot at 21 S. Linn St. across from the Englert Theatre, and your car will be parked in either Tower Place or Chauncey Swan Parking garages.

The hours of service are from 5:00 to 10:00 at night on Fridays and on Saturdays from noon to 10:00 at night.

Nancy Bird, the Executive Director of the ICDD says, "We know that many enjoy walking in or aren't bothered at all by parking, but we're hoping valet can reach those that find stress around it at peak times and it will help them enjoy all the energy the Downtown area has to offer all over again."

The ICDD is working on this project with a company that operates in Des Moines, Keck Parking.

Eleven downtown business are financially supporting the pilot: Takanami, Formosa, Givannis, Active Endeavors, Iowa Chop House, Joseph's Steak House, Pullman Bar & Diner, Hands Jewelers, MC Ginsberg Objects of Art, Catherine's, and Clinton Street Social Club.
