WATERLOO (KWWL) - The first of three 2015 Honor Flights out of Waterloo took off for Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

Dozens of veterans and their companions hopped on an early flight out of the Waterloo Regional Airport on Tuesday morning bound for a whirlwind tour of memorials in the nation's capital.

They are schedule to arrive back in Waterloo at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Sullivan Hartogh Davis Post 730, which puts on the Waterloo Honor Flights.

The two remaining flights are June 16 and Sept. 22 and are open to all veterans, but especially World War II and Korean vets who haven't yet gone on an Honor Flight.
