A cold case was reopened in California, and California authorities arrested an Iowa man for allegedly murdering his child four years ago.

Lucas Dingman of LaPorte City is accused of lighting a fire in his California apartment an attempt to kill his son, Bradley Dingman, on May 21, 2011. Police say, the boy was lying in his crib when the flames ignited. A neighbor extinguished the fire, but little Bradley was burnt and suffered smoke inhalation. He was taken to the hospital but died the next day.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office says the case was reopened in February 2014. Investigators had determined the fire was intentionally set years ago, but after numerous interviews, the case went cold.

On May 1, 2015, detectives traveled to Waterloo to interview Lucas Dingman. The investigators concluded Dingman set the fire and arrested him. Dingman is in the Black Hawk County Jail, waiting to be transferred to California.
