DUBUQUE (KWWL) - The Julien Dubuque Bridge has reopened after just an hour Tuesday morning.

Part of Hwy. 20 east of the bridge was shut down due to a utility pole fire and repair, which impacted traffic on the bridge.

The issue was resolved and traffic was flowing again by 10 a.m. Tuesday.

PREVIOUS STORY:

A small fire on top of a utility pole briefly impacted traffic east of the Julien Dubuque Bridge Tuesday because of the risk of power lines coming down onto traffic.

Hwy. 20 east of the bridge on the Illinois side is still shut down due to the issue, but traffic is not impacted directly on the bridge.

The issue is mostly affecting drivers wanting to travel Hwy. 20 in East Dubuque, Illinois.

There was no word on when traffic in East Dubuque would be back to normal.

KWWL's Brad Hanson is there and will bring you updates.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Julien Dubuque Bridge was temporarily closed Tuesday due to a downed utility pole on the East Dubuque side of the bridge.

Lt. Scott Baxter with the Dubuque Police Department said the bridge was being shut down as of 9 a.m. Tuesday at the request of the East Dubuque Police Department.

Baxter said both Iowa and Illinois traffic would be impacted, and drivers should avoid the bridge.
