DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Loras College will host best-selling sports author Rich Wolfe Wednesday, May 20.

The event, going from 7:00-9:00 p.m., will be at the Alumni Campus Center Marie Graber Ballroom.  The event is free and open to the public.

Wolfe will discuss his career as one of the best-selling sports authors in America over the past 15 years.

“The opportunity to learn from and interact one of America's top sports authors will be a great send-off to our seniors and an extraordinary opportunity for all those in attendance,” said Matt Garrett, Loras College professor of physical education.

A native of Lost Nation, Iowa, Wolfe is the only person to appear on both Jeopardy! and ESPN's 2Minute Drill and is a former National Sports Team Trivia Champion. Although Wolfe cannot type and does not use a computer or the Internet, he has written more than 45 books. Wolfe's books focus mainly on the sports arena and highlight specific announcers, coaches, professional and college football teams and professional basketball teams.

“As an eastern Iowa native, Mr. Wolfe is familiar with the successes of the Loras College sport management program,” said Garrett. “It is a privilege to have him on campus advising and networking with our students, and for that we are very thankful.”

Wolfe's best-selling books include “Tony Gwynn: He Left His Heart in San Francisco,” “Da Coach: Irreverent Stories from Mike Ditka's Players, Coaches and Friends” and “Ron Santo: A Perfect 10.” In addition, Wolfe is known for his unique series of 27 “For ____ Fans Only” books. Ranging from “For Hawkeye Fans Only” to “For Cubs Fans Only,” the books are “for fans written by the fans” of college or professional teams and are based on nostalgia.
