Posted: Updated:

Governor Terry Branstad is ordering flags to be flown at half-staff from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8 for the Iowa Peace Memorial Ceremony. That ceremony starts at 10 on Friday morning at the Oran Pape State Office Building of the Iowa Department of Public Safety; the ceremony is open to the public for those who wish to pay their respects to Iowa officers killed in the line of duty.

All of the flags on display at the Iowa Capitol Complex will be flown at half staff on Friday, while elsewhere, the Governor's order encourages people to fly their flags at half-staff as a sign of respect.

The flags flown at the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial will fly at half-staff from May 11-15 for National Peace Officer Week.
