UPDATE: Hwy. 57 reopens after utility-pole truck crash

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Both eastbound lanes of Highway 57 are now open after being blocked off for more than an hour after a truck carrying utility poles lost control near Main Street.

A driver from K&W Electric was turning left onto Highway 57 when he misjudged the length of the poles and the sharpness of the turn. One of the poles damaged the exterior of Cup of Joe on Main Street.

The interior was not damaged.

People inside Cup of Joe say they heard a loud thud, and felt the building shake.

No one was injured.

The Iowa Department of Public Transportation is investigating. No citations have been issued for the driver at this time.
