IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City Police arrest two people who they claim took housekeeping keys and used them to break into hotel rooms. Ashley Scharf, 23, and Rashaud Lee, 27, were booked in the Johnson County Jail on Thursday morning.

Police say that Lee, Scharf and another accomplice, broke into the housekeeping office at the Sheraton Hotel and took a section key for the 7th floor; they allegedly used that key to break into four rooms and steal at least $4,000 worth of property.

Police say Lee worked primarily with the accomplice to break into the rooms, while Scharf served as the look-out.

Criminal complaints suggest that Lee sold some of the stuff they stole at pawn shops in both Iowa City and Davenport.

Scharf and Lee are both charged with 3rd degree burglary.
