CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - An utility company has donated money to help Iowa families pay their utility bills.

Alliant Energy's Hometown Care Fund gave the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) $136,000.

HACAP provides a variety of services in Iowa, including help paying for energy bills. HACAP serves Linn, Johnson, Jones, Iowa, Benton, and Washington Counties.

The Hometown Care Fund aims to help families pay for high winter heating costs.

Alliant says the company donated a total of $2 million to groups in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
