CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

For the first time since Perfect Game Field opened at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in 2002, two Kernels players have swept the Midwest League Player of the Week honors.

Trey Vavra took home Player of the Week and hit .409 in six games last week, with two doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBI.  He posted a .458 slugging percentage and a .727 OPS.

Stephen Gonsalves was picked as the Pitcher of the Week.  He made one start at Wisconsin, throwing seven innings of shutout baseball.  He walked one batter, hit another and struck out 11.

Next up for the Kernels: They hit the road for a three-game series against the Quad Cities.  They return to Cedar Rapids for a date with the Clinton LumberKings Friday, May 1.
