Mucinex cold medicine recalled due to labeling issue

Posted: Updated:
PARSIPPANY, NJ. — RB has voluntarily recalled certain lots of liquid bottles of its Mucinex brand.

The company said the over-the-counter medications may not have the proper labeling about contents and possible side effects.

The mislabeling could cause the consumer to be unaware of the side effects and risks of taking ingredients like Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine and Diphenhydramine.

Affected are Mucinex-Fast Max Night Time Cold & Flu, Mucinex-Fast MaxCold & Sinus, Mucinex-Fast Max Severe Congestion & Cough, and Mucinex-Fast Max Cold, Flue & Sore Throat.

The recall was issued nationwide as a precaution.

The company said taking medication with undeclared levels of the ingredients listed above could be dangerous especially in people with liver impairments, those who drink three or more drinks a day, or when taking other medicines containing these ingredients.
