WATERLOO (KWWL) - Police say the recent shootings beginning Friday in Waterloo are not only related, but most likely acts of retaliation.

On Friday, April 17, police responded to two incidents of shots fired on Broadway Street near Prime Mart, and in the 900 block of Newton Street.

On Tuesday, April 21, police responded to a call of shots fired at the same home on Newton Street, then in the 300 block of Center Street.

No injuries were reported at any of these incidents.

Director of Safety Services Dan Trelka says these incidents are most likely acts of retaliation.

He says, because of the recent activity, police are upping patrol in the city.

"We reached out to State Patrol and (the Black Hawk County) Sheriff's Office and say, 'Hey listen, until we get these loose ends wrapped up, could you give Waterloo a little more attention, a little more visibility?'" he said.

KWWL's Olivia Mancino will have a full report on the KWWL News at 5 and 6.
