DUBUQUE (KWWL) -  The Dubuque Farmers' Market kicks off the season with a new program to help low-income residents pay for local, fresh food.

The Market Money program will allow those participating in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance-Program (SNAP) to get tokens in exchange for dollars on their EBT card. Those tokens can be used instead of money at participating vendors. The exchange of money and tokens can be made at a central information booth, located at the corners of 12th and Iowa Streets.

The Dubuque Farmers' Market will open for the season on Saturday, May 2,
