CASCADE (KWWL) -

It's been just a week since 18-year-old Cole Haan died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

But the students of Cascade High School and the community are stepping up to support his family.

T-shirts are being sold in memory of Haan, and there are no wasted details on these shirts:

They're purple, which was his favorite color.

They say "Army" on the front, in reference to Haan's planned military service. He had graduated Army Basic Training and was planning on being in ROTC at Gonzaga.

They also depict "Cougar Pride," a nod to the strength of the community.

And finally, there's a yellow ribbon on the side, which is not only a nod to the military, but a yellow ribbon can also symbolize carbon monoxide poisoning awareness.

"We're doing that in part to try to prevent any future tragedies," said Greg Vander Lugt, principal of Cascade High School.

They've also set up a memorial fund for the family, with drop-off points at both banks in Cascade and at Cascade High School.

Order forms for the t-shirts can be found at http://chs.wdbqschools.org/.
