IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa City Police Department is investigating after they received a report of a child who had been bitten by a dog.

It happened on Sunday around 2 p.m. 

Iowa City Police and Animal Control were called the the 2400 block of Whispering Meadow Drive, where they found a 5-year-old who had been bitten by a dog. 

Police say the child was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his mouth.

They say the dog was medium-sized, brown with a long tail.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to a criminal charge.
