ASBURY (KWWL) -

An Asbury woman faces two counts of filing a false report after reporting two home invasions earlier this year.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says 58-year-old Stephanie Settle turned herself in to the Dubuque Law Enforcement center this morning.

Captain Bob Lynn says Settle reported on January 14 that a man with a knife broke into her home while she was there and stole $15,000 worth of jewelry and coins. Settle said she was injured in the attack.

Lynn says that Settle then reported on March 4 that the same man attacked her in her garage. She was treated for numerous cuts she said she received during the attack. She said the man did not take anything.

Lynn says investigators determined there were many inconsistencies with her stories along with a series of events they say were not plausible based on the crime scene, injuries received and other observations.

Settle faces up to a year in jail and a $1,875 fine if convicted.
