UNI to Celebrate Earth Week

The University of Northern Iowa will celebrate environmental efforts during Earth Week, Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24.

 Earth Week is a campus-wide event that involves the campus community in environmental action through a number of interactive and education events.

There will be a campus cleanup at 4 p.m., Tuesday April 21. Volunteers will meet in the Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE) atrium.

The UNI Earth Day celebration fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 22. The fair will take place in the northwest courtyard outside Maucker Union and will include free bike tuneups, education and information booths, games and prizes, a plastic bag exchange, and a plant giveaway.

The film "Cleantech Future" will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday April 22, in the CEEE auditorium.

Cedar Valley Association for Soft Trails will host a 5k fun run on UNI's Prairie Preserve at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 23. Runners will meet at the Prairie Preserve, located at 29th and Walnut streets. All levels of runners are welcome.

A biannual event to pick up and bag trash on Highway 20 with UNI AmeriCorps will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, April 24. Transportation will be provided from the CEEE to the cleanup site.
