DUBUQUE (AP) -

A pair of peregrine falcons appears to have found a new home on the fifth floor of the Dubuque County Courthouse.

The Telegraph Herald reports the birds were last seen nesting Monday and Tuesday. A special nesting platform with edges and pea gravel was installed Tuesday after two bird eggs rolled off a ledge, likely due to high winds.

The executive director of the county conservation board says he hopes the birds return to the nest.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the falcons primarily have nested on rocky bluffs along the Mississippi River.
