Little Marshon Glover is able to run around the playground tonight, while the person who shot him is likely on the run as well.

"We're hearing names, descriptions of cars, little stuff that helps us through the investigation," said Waterloo Police Captain Dave Mohlis. "But it isn't a concrete lead that we need to make an arrest."

Four-year-old Marshon was shot in the stomach at the beginning of April, after a stray bullet tore through the front of his home. He could very easily have been killed. Now, with a scar on his stomach, and 5 inches of his intestine removed, he's up and running.

Still, the search for the shooter has hit some hurdles. Mohlis said it's not easy to solve without concrete witnesses. To date, no one has been arrested.

"There has to be someone out there that knows what happened," said Marshon's grandmother, Latoya Godfrey.

Police said there are still receiving tips. Mohlis said even now, the case is not cold.

"You don't give up," he said. "You keep trying, following leads, hoping somebody out there gives you information and you can make an arrest."

So for Marshon's grandmother, Latoya Godfrey, watching the little boy play just reinforces what she already knew -- that someone needs to come forward with information about the shooting.

"It's a humanity thing, that we should feel responsible and help each other out," Godfrey said. "It's frustrating because he's so little and innocent. I keep thinking, he's in kindergarten, and he's been shot."
