4-year old recovers from gun shot wound

“I'll never forget that day,” says Essence , whose son was hit by a stray bullet inside a Waterloo home on April.

A mother's nightmare has become a mother's joyful blessing, as Marshon is recovering.

Her 4-year old son, with a huge smile and angelic face of innocence, is finally back on the playground at his favorite Waterloo park.

Marshon Glover, Junior, was playing with his toys inside a Waterloo home at 1641 Mulberry Street on April 2. A stray bullet hit Marshon in the stomach during an apparent drive by shooting.

The bullet was not meant anyone in Marshon's family. Marshon was simply an innocent victim, in the wrong place at the wrong time. His Mom was at work when she got word of what had happened. “I was afraid,” she says. I broke down and cried. My supervisor was the one who drove me to the hospital”

The stray bullet hit the house, ripped through the front wall and struck Marshon. He spent 5 days in Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo recovering from his wound.

United Point Allen Doctors had to remove the bullet from Marshon's abdomen area and take out about 5 inches of his intestine. He is expected to make a full recovery, and was even outside Wednesday night, playing at Lafayette Park in Waterloo, as his family closely watched his every move.

Medical bills have piled up on the family, and Marshon's mother has been unable to return to work as she cares for Marshon and his younger brother. In an effort to help out the family, an account has been set up at Veridian Credit Union and a GoFundMe account has been established. The GoFundMe address is: www.gofundme.com/rggpec
