IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa Hawkeyes head basketball coach Fran McCaffery, joined his wife and representatives from Applebee's to present a check for $34,044 to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center this afternoon.

Applebee's donated $1 for each "Franwich" sold at its 23 Iowa locations since November 2nd, 2014.

The cause is near to McCaffery's family.  The coach's teenage son Patrick underwent cancer surgery to remove a tumor from his thyroid a year ago.

Applebee's also sold a "Hoiburger" named for Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg.  $1 of each will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Story County in Ames.
