Cedar Falls school bond vote could happen this summer

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Falls School District is considering going back to the voters again less than a year after a referendum failed, but this ballot question would be different.

Last fall, voters rejected a $118 million bond for a new high school, new elementary school and renovations to a pair of elementary schools: North Cedar and Orchard Hill.

This week, the school board agreed to move forward with plans to put a bond vote before the community on June 30th, but this time only for elementary projects.

The next step is to agree on how much it would cost and what the ballot would say. Then, about 1,000 signatures would have to be collected. The district says the signatures would then be presented to the board at its May 11th meeting.

The district also says another vote for a new high school could happen in the future, but more time is needed to plan.
